1980 Ferrari 512 BB

The 12 cylinder, mid-mounted Ferrari 512BB (Berlinetta Boxer) , was fist offered by Ferrari in 1973 to replace the front mounted 12 cylinder, 365 GT/ Daytona. The 512 BB was offered until 1984 when it was replaced by the Testarossa which also featured a mid-mounted, flat, 12 engine. The to conserve space with the new design Ferrari’s engineers placed the transmission under the engine which lead to an uneven weight distribution that is thought to have contributed to the cars less than stelar performance on the racing circuit.
